
Joseph Blasioli is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, television director, writer, and producer with more than three decades of experience creating premium non-fiction and reality-based programming for Canadian and international broadcasters. He is the Executive Producer and Head of Creative at Firvalley Productions.
Joseph began his career in the 1980s as an assistant editor on The Last Frontier, a landmark Canadian documentary series, before establishing himself as a freelance editor, writer, and director across a wide range of documentary and television projects. In 1992, he produced and directed his first feature-length documentary, Blast ’Em, a theatrically released and internationally acclaimed examination of celebrity culture through the lens of a New York paparazzo. His second feature documentary, The Last Round: Chuvalo vs. Ali, was also released theatrically and received a Genie Award nomination.
His television credits span documentary, lifestyle, and reality programming, including Popstars, Life and Times, Women on Top, Design Interns, At the Table With…, The New Ice Age: A Year in the Life of the NHL, and Canada’s Handyman Challenge. His work has earned multiple Gemini and Canadian Screen Award nominations.
In 2005, Joseph co-founded Firvalley Productions to focus on the growing demand for high-quality, story-driven non-fiction programming. As Executive Producer, he leads creative development across the company’s slate, working hands-on from concept and pitch through production, post-production, and delivery. Known for his instinct-driven approach to storytelling, Joseph remains closely involved in the writing, directing, and shaping of Firvalley’s most important projects.
