Many of us think of Alec Baldwin as a movie-star. His long career actually began in television. His earliest work as an actor was on the NBC soap opera The Doctors. He was also featured in the hot 80’s night time soap Knot’s Landing before making the move to his successful feature film career. Some of his most notable films are The Hunt for Red October, Glengarry Glen Ross and, The Cooler. He performed admirably and seemed to be easily on his way to a lengthy run as a leading man. Unfortunately, Baldwin’s off-screen persona began to cause him some trouble. Adding to this was his stormy acrimonious divorce from actress Kim Basinger. Alec was perceived as being difficult to work with and it affected his career. He was cast more often in character roles. He also spent time in the New York stage and focused more on his political activism. Perhaps in part because of Baldwin’s years of sharp comedic performances on SNL, he was approached in 2006 to become a part of the cast of 30 Rock. The show now in its third season received stellar reviews and the audience is slowly increasing. His performance earned him the Golden Globe in 2007 and the Emmy in 2008 for Best Actor in a Television series, Comedy. He is considered to be among the very best comedic actors working today.
